You Signed Up—Now What? How to Maximize Your Lawn Treatment Subscription

We’re excited to have you on one of our treatment plans—but what you do between visits makes all the difference. Our professional applications are designed to give your lawn everything it needs to thrive, but without proper watering, mowing, and care, your results will fall short.

Here’s how to help your yard reach its full potential:

💧 Watering: The #1 Success Factor

Our treatments are only half the equation—water is the other half. Many of the professional products we apply need water to activate and fully absorb into the soil.

So what happens if it doesn’t rain?

We use premium, stabilized products that can sit dormant on your lawn for several days—even a week or more—without losing effectiveness. These products are designed for customers who prefer to let Mother Nature handle the watering. But here’s the catch:

If your lawn doesn’t get water, your grass will get heat-stressed and brown—no matter how good our treatment is.

Stressed turf is more vulnerable to weeds, pests, and disease. It won’t respond as well to fertilizers or herbicides. Even if the products are there, dry soil = stalled results.

Best Watering Practices:

  • Water deeply and infrequently. Aim for 1" of water per week, split between 2–3 sessions.

  • Mornings only. Water between 4–8 a.m. to reduce evaporation and prevent fungus.

  • Avoid nightly watering. It promotes fungal diseases and root rot.

  • Use a rain gauge or tuna can to track how much water your lawn is getting.

  • Pay attention to hot spots. South-facing slopes or areas near pavement dry out faster.

✂️ Mowing: It’s Not Just for Looks

One of the most overlooked parts of lawn care is mowing—and it plays a huge role in the success of your treatment plan.

Cutting your grass regularly helps turfgrasses thicken up and choke out weeds.

When you go weeks or even months between cuts, weeds have a chance to sprout, mature, and spread. That slows down the progress of even the best weed control treatments.

Smart Mowing Habits:

  • Mow weekly or every 7–10 days.

  • Keep blades sharp. Dull blades tear the grass and stress it out.

  • Don't scalp it. Most warm-season grasses (like Bermuda) should be cut to 1.5–2" during peak season.

  • Never remove more than 1/3 of the grass height at once. It shocks the lawn.

  • Alternate mowing patterns to avoid ruts and soil compaction.

🌱 Other Tips for Success

  • Don’t bag your clippings. Mulch them back into the lawn unless they’re overly clumpy. Grass clippings break down and return nutrients.

  • Avoid heavy foot traffic after treatments. Especially while products are settling.

  • Watch for new weed growth. Some weeds need multiple treatments—especially in the early stages.

  • Let us know if something looks off. We offer unlimited spot treatments on our Elite Plan.

Final Word

Our team puts high-quality, professional products into your lawn—but to get the best bang for your buck, your watering and mowing habits must support the process. A treatment plan is a partnership between us and your yard.

When we apply the science and you handle the basics, that’s when the magic happens.
